"Georgia is a unique country where Georgian and Azerbaijani, Shiite and Sunni Muslims pray in one and the same mosque. This tradition of peaceful coexistence and brotherhood is very precious to us which is proved by our actions. The state has handed over 237 mosques to the Muslim community, and 20 more are ready to be handed over. The state has increased its funding to the Muslim community to 4,150,000 GEL and following economic growth, this support will increase even more. The religious diversity of Georgia is one of the most important assets of our country" - said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, on behalf of the Government of Georgia, at the traditional iftar held on the occasion of Ramadan Bayram. The Prime Minister congratulated the representatives of the Muslim community on the month of Ramadan and especially noted the centuries-old tradition of peaceful coexistence and friendship between Christians and Muslims in Georgia and the contribution of Muslim citizens to the reconstruction of the country.

Zaza Vashakmadze, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, emphasized the attitude of the Georgian government, its support to the Muslim community and the uniqueness of the Muslim community of Georgia itself.

Faig Nabiev, the Sheikh of Muslims of Georgia, Adam Shantadze, Mufti of Western Georgia and Etibar Eminov, Mufti of Eastern Georgia addressed the Muslim community.

The event was attended by the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, representatives of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Administration of Muslims of Georgia, employees of the State Agency for Religious Issues.

The iftar ended with commemorative photos.
