The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze received Iran’s clerical delegation headed by the supreme leader of Tehran Ayatollah Kazem Seddiqi at the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

The chairman of the agency introduced the guests the issues of cooperation with the Muslim community and the decisions made by the state as well as the state religious policy and agency’s activities. Zaza Vashakmadze 

On the 20^th of March the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia received religious leader of Tehran Ayatollah Kazem Seddiqi and Iran’s clerical delegation.

The Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia in order to further strengthen the relations between the two nations and two religions called this visit important and noted that despite religious or ideological differences Georgia had always been a peacemaker for different religious people living in Georgia and the Muslim community is an integral part of multinational Georgian society: “We are the citizens of 

Ayatollah Seddiqi a religious leader of Tehran visited Georgia. On the initiative of the State Agency for Religious Issues and the direct participation of the Embassy of Iran Ayatollah Seddiqi met with the Metropolitan Giorgi (Jamdeliani) of Marneuli and Hujabi Eparchy. At the meeting they spoke about religious and ethnic relations in Marneuli. They noted that in Georgia, including multiethnic Marneuli Muslims, Christians and the representatives of other religious communities have peaceful and friendly traditions and they continue it suitably. Today at the Caucasus International University the “Transcaucasian Dialogue” was held that was dedicated to the 25^th anniversary of Bratislava process, its results and perspectives; as well as to the 25^th anniversary of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly and the 15^th anniversary of the security in Caucasus.

The event was attended by the representatives of the academia of Georgia, of the diplomatic corps of the neighboring countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia), of the embassies of the EU member states (Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria), of the international organizations and of the other governmental structures. 

A regular meeting between the State Agency for Religious Issues and the Muslim community of Georgia was held at the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

The meeting was attended: by the chairman of the agency Zaza Vashakmadze, Shia spiritual leaders Sheikh of All Georgia – Ramin Igidov, members of the Spiritual Council (Shura) of the Administration 

The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze continues holding introductory meetings with the newly appointed ambassadors.

On the 16^th of March, the chairman of the agency met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia H.E Seyed Javad Ghavam Shahidi.

Zaza Vashakmadze introduced the guest the country’s religious policy, main directions of the agency’s activities and the decisions made by the government regarding the Muslim community in recent years.

On the 24^th of January, at the National Youth and Children’s Palace the State Agency for Religious Issues within the framework of the Governmental Action Plan on Protection of Human Rights in Georgia presented the projects and books fulfilled in 2016 that have been published by the agency: 

On the 18^th of January, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Lithuania to Tbilisi, Georgia Giedrius Puodziunas visited the Museum of History of the Jews of Georgia and Georgian-Jewish Relations and opened the exhibition – “Lithuanian Jews Beyond the Iron Curtain”.
