On the 23rd of October, in Bolnisi, solemn ceremonies dedicated to the 199th anniversary of Germans’ establishment in Georgia were held, such as public warship at the St Paul’s Evangelical-Lutheran Church, laying a wreath at the memorial and festive evening at Bolnisi Culture Centre. The celebration was attended by the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze who made a speech and congratulated attendees on this jubilee noting that for the coming year the government had already begun a special preparation and in 2017, 200th anniversary of German’s establishment in Georgia would be celebrated on the highest level. The chairman spoke about a special role of German people in the history of Georgia and about a cooperation between the two countries.
The event was attended by Dr. Heike Peitsch, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Georgia and prof. Oliver Reisner, the chairman of the Union for the Preservation of German Cultural Heritage in the South Caucasus.
