Georgian Jewish Association of the World under the leadership of the chief rabbi, Iakob Gagulashvili visited Georgia. They held a working meeting with Zaza Vashakmadze, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues. The meeting was attended by Merab Chanchalashvili, chairman of the Board of Tbilisi Great Synagogue, Edward Palagashvili, chairman of the Jewish Union, Georgia's Rabbins: Meir Kozlovsky, Rakhamim Murdukhashvili and other Rabbis of the Association.
The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues informed the guests about the activities carried out by the agency. Namely, the funding for the Georgian Jewish community. The Chairman of the agency emphasized the fact that the state had returned all the churches back to the Jewish community. Zaza Vashakmadze also noted that the Georgian-Jewish 26-year-old relationship has no analogy in the world and due to this fact it was granted a status of an intangible cultural monument.
The guests expressed their satisfaction over the reforms carried out by the State Agency for Religious Issues and confirmed the full support of the Georgia state course in relation to religions. They also talked about the importance of opening a Jewish educational centre in Georgia and thanked the state for support in this case.
