Today, Zaza Vashakmadze, chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues held a meeting with Petr Mikyska, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Georgia.

The meeting was introductory. The chairman of the agency informed Mr Mikyska about the activities of the agency and the projects implemented by the state in the field of protecting freedom of religion. They talked about the financing of various confessions in Georgia and the transfer of cult buildings, as well as the trainings,  carried out by the agency under the Governmental Action Plan. Zaza Vashakmadze interested in the legislation on religious restitution, education and registration of organizations in the Czech Republic.

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic thanked the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues for the information provided and spoke about the religious policy and legislation in force in the Czech Republic. According to Petr Mikyska, the Czech Republic supports Georgia's European integration and cooperation in the field of religion plays an important role in this regard.

At the end of the meeting the conversation focused on the forthcoming visit of the agency’s representatives to the Czech Republic for meeting with a counterpart organization and sharing mutual experience.
