Today, on International Human Rights Day, at Administration of Government of Georgia, the State Agency for Religious Issues hosted the representatives of religious organizations, the meeting, which was held in the format of the inter-religious council, chairman of the Agency, Zaza Vashakmadze, introduced guests Results of the activities of the Religious Agency under the 2018-20 years Governmental Human Rights Action Plan.

In particular, spoke about using print, electronic and Internet media to raise public awareness, also restitution of confiscated houses of worship during the Soviet period,  the disputed religious buildings origin and its resolving policy development. Rising awareness of religious leaders and media representatives (in Tbilisi and Regions Agency trained more than 700 clergymen) in religious freedom issues, the new project, "the State language for the clergymen,"  the conferences, books and photo albums, interreligious calendar and religious buildings maps, jointly developed projects with Ministry of Education, Science Culture and Sport of Georgia.

It was mentioned that all these projects were either completed, in progress, or a working group was established. Some issues will be discussed in the format of committee hearings of the Human Rights Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.

In their speeches, representatives of the Inter-Religious council referred to the topics of interest and most important issues concern to them noted that only joint efforts could solve the problems.

At the end of the meeting, Zaza Vashakmadze introduced another new initiative to the members of the Council: to create a photo album depicting cult buildings of different religions in Georgia's occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region, so as not to allow anyone in the future, first and foremost, occupiers, to falsify history.
