The training of the Agency and the United Nations Children's Fund has started in Borjomi

 

Today, in Borjomi, at the hotel "Borjomi Likani", a three-day training "Freedom of religion and the best interests of the child" was opened. The event was organized by the State Agency for Religious Issuess and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in which the representatives of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Georgia, the Administration of All Muslims of Georgia, the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church of Georgia, the Apostolic Administration of the Caucasus, the Jewish Union of Georgia, the International Baptist Church of Tbilisi, the Union of Baptist Churches of Georgia, the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Georgia, the Evangelical-Protestant Church of Georgia, the Evangelical Faith Church of Georgia and the Spiritual Council of Yezidis of Georgia participated. The goal of the joint training is to deepen the knowledge of religious leaders in the protection of children's rights. The seminar also covers such important topics as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its four general principles, the Code of Children's Rights of Georgia, scheduled vaccination of children, vaccination against COVID 19 and child abuse.

The training was opened and the participants of the meeting were welcomed by the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, and the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund in Georgia, Dr. Ghasan Khalili, who emphasized the importance of joint cooperation between the Agency and the United Nations Children's Fund in the protection of children's rights in Georgia.

The topics discussed on the first day of the training are: deepening knowledge about the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the four general principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. After the doscussion there will be group work on the topic - the four general principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and at the end the groups will make presentations on the same topic.

In 2019, the State Agency for Religious Issues and the representative office of the United Nations Children's Fund in Georgia signed a memorandum of cooperation. A meeting and a seminar with UNICEF was held between the representatives of two religious organizations, the Patriarchate of Georgia and the Administration of All Muslims of Georgia. In 2020, ar the organized of the State Agency for Religious Issues and the United Nations Children's Fund, a special conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was held, the main topics of which were the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Code of Children's Rights of Georgia, the rights of children in different religions and the role of religious leaders in protecting and promoting them.

The joint training of the State Agency for Religious Issues and the United Nations Children's Fund will continue tomorrow. After the completion of the trainings, certificates will be given to the participants.
