On the 19th of November Synod Sitting of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church was held
The sitting was attended by: the members of the Synod, chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze, German Embassy Cultural attaché Christopher Prontseki, delegation of Evangelical-Lutheran Church from Germany and as well as the clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church and Baptist Church of Georgia.
According to the agenda 15 issues were discussed at the sitting, including presentation, discussion and election of the new candidate for the bishop of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church Markus Schoch (Latvia).
After the election of the new bishop Zaza Vashakmadze made a speech, congratulated the bishop and wished him success in this important position. The chairman also expressed a desire for continuation of the tradition of close cooperation with the Evangelical-Lutheran Church and thanked Hans-Joachim Kiderlen for his leadership of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church for many years.
The chairman of the agency also noted about his readiness to hold working meetings with the German Embassy and the Evangelical-Lutheran Church on the event regarding the 200th anniversary of Germans’ establishment in Georgia.
