The visit of the Chairman of the German National Committee of the World Lutheran Union, Dr. Frank Otfried July, Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Württemberg, continues in Georgia.

After visiting the Georgian Patriarchate, on September 19, 2020, with the support of the local government and the State Agency for Religious Issues,  Markus Schoch Bishop of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Georgia and Bishop July visited Assureti (formerly Elizabetal) together with other members of the church and parishioners  where a cordial meeting was held with the representatives of the local government and the Orthodox Church. The guests visited the former German settlement and the historic church restored by the authorities, which is now state-owned, where Orthodox services are held.

Members of the delegation paid their respects at the German cemetery and condacted prayer service, followed by a paraklesis at the former Evangelical-Lutheran Church.

After the paraklesis, Bishop July and Bishop Schoch thanked the Government of Georgia, the Assureti City Hall and the State Agency for Religious Issues for their outstanding attention to the Evangelical- Lutheran Church, for the restoration of the historic part of the former German settlement and for warm reception.

The prayer and paraklesis were attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Georgia Hubert Knirsch, the Mayor of Tetritskaro region Giorgi Koridze, the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze, the Deputy Chairman of the Agency Giorgi Ukleba and the Head of the Strategic Research, Analysis and Regional Service Nino Chavchavadze.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Georgia thanked the State Agency for Religious Issues for their work done.
