Representatives of the Georgian Patriarchate and the authorities visited St. George's Church in Kurmukhi and attended a service conducted by the Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe and Taoklarjeti, the Interim Ruler of the Diocese of Khornabuji, Hereti and Nekresi Metropolitan Theodore (Chuadze).
St. George’s Church in Kurmukhi is the main religious shrine of historical Georgians in Hereti. Thus, for the members of the delegation, the meeting here on St. George's Day, the day of the execution of St. George of Cappadocia, had a symbolic significance.
The delegation includes the Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe and Taoklarjeti, the Acting Governor of the Diocese of Khornabuji, Hereti and Nekresi, Metropolitan Theodore (Chuadze) and representatives of the Patriarchate, the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze and Agency staff, MPs Irakli Kadagishvili and Guram Macharashvili, Deputy State Representative in Kakheti, Givi Metreveli and the employees of the Office of the Representative, the Chairman of Lagodekhi Municipality, Carlo Jamburia.
The delegation left for Tbilisi today.
