Today the Catholic Church celebrates Christmas. A solemn liturgy was held in the Catholic churches in different regions of Georgia, however, due to the pandemic without the traditional overnight stay. Among them, in Tbilisi, in the Church of the Assumption, where the service was led by Bishop Giuseppe Pasotto. The service was attended by the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, the Deputy Chairman, Giorgi Ukleba and the staff of the Agency. The Chairman of the Agency congratulated the clergy and the parishioners on Christmas on behalf of the Prime Minister of Georgia and thanked them for their active cooperation, congratulated them on the greatest Christian holiday - Christmas and wished them success. Zaza Vashakmadze especially noted that despite the covid-19 Pandemic, the state allowed all religious organizations and parishes who celebrate Christmas today to move at night, however, the believers showed a high responsibility, took the example of Rome and other churches and refused to participate in the traditional overnight service.
