Zaza Vashakmadze the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues and Valerian Liluashvili the leading specialist of the agency’s Legal Maintenance Office met with the chairman of the Education and Culture Committee of the Parliament of Cyprus, Ciriakos Hajiiani. The functions of the Committee include cooperation and coordination with religious and ethnic groups in Cyprus.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Catholic and Armenian communities in the Parliament of Cyprus, Antonella Matvani and Vartkis Mandesian as well as the Ambassador of Georgia to Cyprus Revaz Lominadze.
The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues talked about the measures taken by the state in the sphere of religion and also on financing, property issues and interreligious dialogue. The hosts appreciated the activities of the Georgian state and both sides expressed a willingness to cooperate. Ciriakos Hajiiani reviewed cooperation with religious organizations in terms of financial and property issues. The representatives of minorities who actively participated in the dialogue positively evaluated the information obtained and expressed their readiness to cooperate with the religious groups existing in Georgia. The hosts expressed willingness to work closely with the Georgian side at the legislative and expert level of this field.
