On the 1^st  of February, the US Embassy hosted the meeting of Zaza Vashakmadze, the chairperson of the State Agency for Religions Issues, with the US Ambassador to Georgia Ross Wilson, Charge d’affaires.

The meeting was of introductory character. The chairman of the agency introduced the activities and implemented projects of the religious agency to Mr. Wilson. The Ambassador said that he was informed about the activities of the agency and he positively evaluated the state policy carried out towards the religious organizations. He also positively assessed the agency's direct contacts with the US Department of State and the relevant colleague structure; he said that he was informed about the visit of the chairman of the agency to US participating in the Ministerial on Freedom of Religion, in which the US Vice-President and Secretary of State took part and he promised to cooperate closely with the relevant structure of the agency. We will remind you that implementation of joint projects with the State Agency for Religious Issues was planned in the United States, which will be implemented throughout the region and Georgia will serve as a regional center.

The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues  invited  the US Ambassador at the presentation of the agency’s new project, photo album – “Religions in Georgia”, on February 7.
