Today at the administration of the Government of Georgia the chairman of State Agency for Religions Issues Zaza Vashakmadze met with the representatives of EUMM, Mtskheta office - Gerard Scott ,Deputy Head of the Human Rights Group and Andrias Persen, a member of the same group.

The Chairman of the agency talked to the guests about the activities carried out by the agency, including state religious policy, agency activities, trainings, conferences and future projects.

The guests were interested in the position of the Georgian state and Orthodox Church regarding the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church. They also expressed their interest in the protection of religious rights in the occupied territories. Zaza Vashakmadze introduced the representatives of EUMM to the facts of discrimination on religious and ethnic grounds of Georgian population in the regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, as well as the facts of eradicating Georgian traces in Orthodox churches.

The guests thanked the chairman of the agency for providing multilateral information and expressed readiness to cooperate with the State Agency for Religion Issues.
