On June 14, 2018, Zaza Vashakmadze, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues and the representatives of the agency met with the chairman of the Azerbaijani  State Committee for Work with the Diaspora Fuad R.Muradov and the accompanying delegation visiting Georgia.

The chairman of the agency introduced the guests to religious policy of Georgia, spoke about the property of confessions and their financial assistance from the state. Special attention was paid to the religious diversity and peaceful coexistence in Georgia cooperation with religious organizations and the protection of freedom of religion. Zaza Vashakmadze also focused on the mosques transferred to the Muslim community and a promotion of those cultural activities that are being implemented to help the Azeri population. He noted that Azeri population have the opportunity to get education in their native language, to get information through mass media on the ongoing processes in the country and enjoy the theatre Azeri ensembles etc.

The guest expressed his gratitude and noted that despite the short-term operation of the agency much has been done and hoped that relations will become closer and multifaceted with the similar service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  The chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with the Diaspora also noted that there are excellent conditions for all confessions in Georgia and shared the experience of working on the law of religion. Fuad Muradov noted with great respect that his visit to Georgia began with the meeting with the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II. At the end of the meeting Mr. Muradov invited the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues to Azerbaijan.

The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze thanked the guest for inviting him and expressed his hope that the chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with the Diaspora will be involved in solving the problems that Georgians living in Saingilo are concerned about.
