A regular meeting between the State Agency for Religious Issues and the Muslim community of Georgia was held at the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

The meeting was attended: by the chairman of the agency Zaza Vashakmadze, Shia spiritual leaders Sheikh of All Georgia – Ramin Igidov, members of the Spiritual Council (Shura) of the Administration of All Muslims of Georgia Faig Nabiev, Aziz Nabiev, Rasim Mammedov, Namik Huseinov and Pirdos Kasunov.

At the meeting the issues concerning a transfer of the mosques to the Muslim community and financial assistance were discussed.

The Sheikh of All Georgia and the members of the council thanked the chairman of the agency and noted that they welcomed the positive steps taken by the government in the development of the Muslim community.

The Sheikh Ramin Igidov talked about the importance of such meetings and noted that it’s a merit of the State Agency for Religious Issues to establish such a high level of communication between the state and the Muslim community. 

At the end of the meeting, the guests expressed their willingness to be actively involved in the “Interreligious Council” on the one hand in the direction of cooperation between the state and Muslim community and on the other hand in terms of interreligious dialogue.
