At the Administration of the Government of Georgia the meeting between the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze and the Ambassador of the Republic of Germany to Georgia Mr. Hubert Knirsch was held.

At the meeting the Chairman introduced the Ambassador to the establishment and the activities of the agency, religious, demographic and ethnic characteristics of Georgia and to the successful steps taken by the state towards the religious minorities. Namely, financing of the confessions and the mechanisms of transferring religious property to them. Zaza Vashakmadze also talked about the projects developed, the conferences held and the trainings implemented by the State Agency for Religious Issues within the framework of the Human Rights Governmental Action Plan.

The German Ambassador thanked Zaza Vashakmadze for detailed information. He underlined the historical friendship between Georgia and Germany, which has become fruitful in recent years. Hubert Knirsch spoke about the German experience of the relationship between state and religious organizations. He said that these issues are central to the state of Germany, and there is a great interest in this direction. The Ambassador informed the Zaza Vashakmadze about the establishment of the Islamic Conference at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany and the developement of local Islamic theology. It was emphasized the necessity of sharing bilateral experiences. In this regard Religious Agency was invited for Informational tour in Germany.
