Since the 3rd of July the chairman of the State Agency of Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze has been visiting Israel. The first meeting was held with the Director of the Euro-Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Rafael Harpaz. The chairman of the agency introduced Rafael Harpaz to the activities of the agency its functions and tasks and the activities of the government in the context of religious diversity and the activities carried out by the agency on the background of the challenges existent in the modern world.
The Director of the Euro-Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel noted that Israel as an ally of Georgia expressed its support in the foreign relations including the occupied territories. According to him, Israel has its own political views in the Caucasus region. He has been to Georgia six times and believes that frequence of flights to Georgia and intense governmental visits speaks about the close relations of our people.
He positively valued the Prime Minister’s visit to Israel planned by the end of the month and noted that one thing is enough to express Georgian-Jewish relations, in Georgia unlike other countries, the synagogues had no guard and anyone can visit it.
