The delegation of the State Agency for Religious Issues was met by the Executive Vice Chairman of the National Coalition for the Support of Eurasian Jewry (NSCEJ), Mark Levin, and the Executive Director of the organization B'nai B'rith International, Daniel Mariashin.

At the meeting held with the chairman of the Agency, Zaza Vashakmadze, and the head of the Legal Maintenance Office, Davit Davitashvili, the uniqueness of the Georgian-Jewish relationship was once again emphasized. During the conversation, it became clear that the heads of Jewish organizations are well acquainted with the history of Georgian-Jewish relations and the state of the Jewish community in modern Georgia, they also recalled the meetings held at the Agency and noted the number of tourists from the world Jewish community had been increased in Tbilisi, Batumi and other cities.

The conversation also touched upon the inexact information published in various international reports, including the annual Report of the US Department of State on International Religious Freedom. The hosts stated that the reports should be based on information provided by various sources, including information received from the religious communities themselves. According to them, next week, at the meeting planned in the US Department of State, they will certainly raise the issue of fixing the inexact information published in the reports regarding the Jewish community and religious minorities in general.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Daniel Mariashin showed the photo of his great-grandfather to the guests, the chief rabbi serving in Georgia, that was displayed in his office and Georgian postage stamps.
