The delegation of the State Agency for Religious Issues met with Charlotte (North Carolina) Police Chief, Colonel Johnny Jennings, Deputy Chief of Police and Head of the Police Academy, Major Dave Johnson, and Chief Chaplain, Theo Shaffer, Head of the Chaplain Training Center.

The chairman of the Agency, Zaza Vashakmadze, and the head of the Legal Maintenance Office, Davit Davitashvili, were introduced to the role and importance of chaplains in police activities. According to Colonel Jennings, the need for chaplain service arises already in the training process of the police academy, as cadets need help coping with emotional stress caused by training and environmental changes, and in the later years of police activity, the chaplain's assistance becomes an integral part of their daily reality.

According to the hosts, there are currently 56 chaplains in the Charlotte Police Department who help police officers to strengthen their mental and emotional resilience. In addition, chaplains play an important role in the formation of the policeman’s image in the society, his human face, which leads to respect for policemen from the society. Therefore, the Charlotte Police Department would like to have more chaplains on the force, but chaplaincy in law enforcement is based on volunteerism. It is also worth noting that in order to obtain the status of a chaplain, clergymen undergo a training course approved by the police chief.
