The delegation of the State Agency for Religious Issues, consisting of the Chairman of the Agency, Zaza Vashakmadze, the Head of the Legal Maintenance Office, Davit Davitashvili, and the Senior Specialist of the same Office, Aleksandre Shekiladze, visited the Republic of Armenia.
The members of the delegation met with the Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia on Religious Affairs, Artashes Tumanyan, the Head of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs of the Government of Armenia, Vardan Astsatrian, and the Head of the Department of Bordering Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Davit Janazyan, at the Office for Ethnic Minorities. The participants of the meeting discussed the issue of initiating negotiations on granting legal status and registration to the Georgian Orthodox Church in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. In the format of a conversation, the parties set specific steps for future cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia, Giorgi Sharvashidze, the Counselor of the Embassy, Giorgi Pipia, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia, Ashot Smbatyan.
