The Delegation of the Agency Met with the Texas Police Chaplain

The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, and the head of the Legal Maintenance Office, Davit Davitashvili, met with the chaplain of the Texas police, the pastor of the Baptist Church, Dr. Clifton Cumming who has ten years of experience as a chaplain, is an International Association for Critical Illness and Stress Management (ICISF) certified instructor, professor, author of the Chaplain Training Course Manual  and numerous publications on chaplaincy in the state of Texas.

Dr. Cumming informed the guests in detail about the training of police chaplains and the criteria for candidates. According to him, the organization, which prepares police chaplain candidates for further service, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in July of this year. Dr. Cumming promised the chairman of the Agency that he would raise the issue of the development and promotion of chaplaincy in Georgia at the conference held to mark the anniversary.

Zaza Vashakmadze introduced Pastor Cumming to the activities of the Agency for the introduction of chaplain services in Georgia. At the meeting, it was planned to adapt the 10-phase training course and manual for police chaplains considering Georgian reality and requirements.
