Today, on August 26, the delegation of the State Agency for Religious Issues - the Chairman of the Agency Zaza Vashakmadze, the Deputy Chairman Giorgi Ukleba and the Protocol Manager Gvantsa Tskhovrebadze visited the Martyrs’ Lane in Baku. They laid a wreath and paid tribute to the memory of the Azerbaijani demonstrators shot during the Soviet-era "Black January".

On January 20, 1990, peaceful Azerbaijani protesters in Baku were dispersed by Soviet troops, as a result 131 people were killed, 744 were injured, 4 were missing, and more than 400 people were arrested.

The delegation was accompanied in the Martyrs’ Lane by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze, the Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Revaz Sakvarelidze and the Ambassador's Adviser Giorgi Buachidze, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Gunduz Ismailov and staff of the Committee.
