Today, the OSCE delegation visited the State Agency for Religious Issues at the Administration of the Government of Georgia. In particular, the personal representative of the OSCE Chairmanship against racism, xenophobia and discrimination, intolerance and discrimination against Christians and representatives of other religions, Professor Regina Polak, the personal representative of the OSCE Chairmanship against anti-Semitism, Rabbi Andrew Baker, the personal representative of the OSCE Chairmanship on combating intolerance and discrimination against Muslims, Ambassador Ismail Hakki Musa, Special Adviser to the Polish Presidency of the OSCE, Ewa Sapiezynska, OSCE/ODIHR Adviser on Racism, Xenophobia, Tatiana Perichi and OSCE/ODIHR Adviser on Anti-Semitism, Mikolaj Ezechenkowski.

The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, briefed the religious policy of the state of Georgia, projects and activities implemented by the Agency to the guests. The chairman of the Agency particularly noted the unique relationship between Georgians and Jews and said that there are no anti-Semitism facts in Georgia. In addition we also have "Georgian Schindlers" who often saved Jews at the cost of their own lives. That is why, Georgian-Jewish relations were given the status of intangible culture. He also emphasized the unique nature of Georgian Islam, when Georgian Shiites and Sunnis pray in the same mosque amid the conflicts in the world. Zaza Vashakmadze noted the contribution of Georgian Catholics to the development of Georgian culture. He also touched on the situation of minority religions in Georgia and highlighted their fruitful cooperation in the format of the Interreligious Council, which has no analogue in Georgia.

The guests thanked the chairman of the Agency for his hospitality and noted that it was interesting to learn about the Agency's activities.
