Today, at the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, hosted the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund in Georgia, Jesper Moller.
The chairman of the Agency briefly introduced the activities of the State Agency for Religious Issues and its main activities to the guest. An important part of the conversation was devoted to the cooperation of the Agency with the representation of the United Nations Children's Fund in Georgia. Zaza Vashakmadze told Jesper Moller about the events held after the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the State Agency for Religious Issues and the United Nations Children's Fund in 2019. In particular, within the framework of the memorandum, in order to raise the awareness of religious leaders, the seminar "The role of Clergy in Protection of Children's Rights" was organized by the Agency and the United Nations Children's Fund, the aim of which was to increase the role and importance of religious leaders in the protection of children's rights. Also, with the joint efforts of the Agency and the foundation, the training "Freedom of religion and the best interests of the child" was held, in which representatives of religious organizations registered in Georgia participated. Zaza Vashakmadze expressed his desire to continue intensive cooperation with the United Nations Foundation in the future.
Jesper Moller thanked the chairman of the Agency and said that the fund will continue to implement joint projects with the Agency. The meeting was of an introductory character.
