The visit of the State Agency for Religious Issues to the Republic of Azerbaijan continues. The Chairman of the Agency Zaza Vashakmadze, the Deputy Chairman Giorgi Ukleba and the Protocol Manager Gvantsa Tskhovrebadze met with the Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov.

The Vice Prime Minister expressed his unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and underlined the good neighborly relations between the two countries. "Azerbaijan and Georgia have been cooperating closely for a long time in politics, economy and other areas. "The transfer of Azerbaijan's rich resources to Europe via Georgia is not accidental, it is an expression of the trust between the two countries," he said. Ali Ahmadov stressed that Georgia and Azerbaijan are multi-confessional, tolerant countries. Azerbaijan is grateful to the state of Georgia, as all conditions are created for Azerbaijanis living in Georgia to have active coexistence with Georgians. All this is an expression of the historical friendship between the two countries.

The Chairman of the Agency briefed the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Azerbaijan on the policy and approaches of the Georgian state in the field of religion. Zaza Vashakmadze spoke about the assistance that the Muslim community receives from the state, including annual funding to compensate for the material and moral damage inflicted during the Soviet era, the process of handing over mosques, the annual iftar held on behalf of the state's supreme authority, the state-implemented project "State Language for Clergy", which promotes maximum integration of the Muslim community.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Azerbaijan noted with satisfaction the state language project, which will help ethnic Azerbaijanis to take an active part in socio-political life. "I believe that your visit will contribute not only to the development of relations between the two countries in the field of religion, but also to a number of other issues," said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmadov at the end of the meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze, the Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Revaz Sakvarelidze and the staff of the State Committee on Religious Associations.
