The organizers and participants of the international conference "Religion and the Rule of Law" held at the initiative of the State Agency for Religious Issues and the US non-governmental organization "Institute of Global Engagement" visited the Parliament of Georgia. They were hosted by the Chairman of the Human Rights Protection Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Mikheil Sarjveladze.

  According to the chairman of the parliamentary committee, it is important that Georgia hosts such a forum, because freedom of religion, protection of human religious rights is the most significant issue for us. In this regard, a lot is being done in the country, and among them, the  activity of the Agency is worth noting.

          The guests expressed the initiative that it is desirable for Tbilisi to become a regional hub of international religious freedom, which was supported by the chairman of the parliamentary committee and the Agency, and future cooperation was planned.

The vice-president of the Global Engagement Institute, James Chen, and the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, thanked the chairman of the parliamentary committee for the reception and expressed the hope that the joint conference will make a significant contribution to the process of strengthening human religious rights.

The meeting was attended by: "Global Engagement Institute" experts: Greg Mitchell, Elizabeth Clark, Mark Erzeg, Nadine Maenza, Mark Hill, Ewelina Ochab, Wade Kusak, Bulat Sarsanbayev, Pastor of the Evangelical Faith Church of Georgia, Guram Imerlishvili, Head of the Legal Maintenance Office of the Agency, Davit Davitashvili and lawyer Aleksandre Shekiladze.
