International Conference of the Agency and the American "Institute for Global Engagement" has Ended

Today, in Batumi, was the second day of the Georgian-American International Conference - "The Role of Religious Education in Overcoming Modern Global Challenges".

At the first part of the conference, which was chaired by Nino Chavchavadze, the head of the Strategic Research, Analysis and Regional Service of the State Agency for Religious Office, the representatives of religious organizations made speeches. In particular, the deacon of the Apostolic Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Georgia, Ioane Gorelashvili, read a report on the topic "The role of the Georgian Orthodox Church in Education and Culture"; Adam Shantadze, the mufti of Western Georgia, the Administration of All Muslims of Georgia, spoke on the topic "Religious Education, approaches in a Multi-religious and Multi-ethnic Society"; The topic of the report of Guram Imerlishvili, pastor of the Evangelical Faith Church of Georgia, was "The Role of Religious Education in the Light of Global and Local Challenges"; The Bishop of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church of Georgia, Kirakos Davtyan discussed "the Importance of Religious Education in a Multi-religious and Multi-ethnic Society"; Chairman of the Jewish Union of Georgia, Merab Chanchalashvili touched on the topic "Religious Tolerance in Georgia and the Challenges Presented in Recent Years"; The topic of the report of the chairman of the Spiritual Council of Yazidis of Georgia, Dimitri Pirbar, was "Education and Religious Tolerance"; Charles Hoblitz, pastor of Tbilisi International Baptist Church, spoke on the topic "Religious Education"; Giorgi Chitadze, pastor of the Evangelical-Protestant Church of Georgia, also talked about "Religious Education"; Aneri Giunashvili, pastor of the Union of Christian-Baptist Churches of Georgia, discussed "Contemporary Challenges of Religious Tolerance"; Boris Charaia, leader of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Georgia, spoke about "the Role of Religion in Promoting Regional Peace and Conflict Resolution"; the speech of the Bishop of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Georgia, Rolf Barais, was about "Religion and Peace"; the Apostolic Vicar of the Apostolic Administration of the Caucasus, Gabriele Bragantini, touched on the "Current Challenges of Catholicism in the Whole World and in Georgia".

The moderator of the second part of the conference was the representative of the American side, the senior employee of the non-governmental organization " Institute for Global Engagement ", Wade Kusack. "Empowering Women of Faith: Strategies for Effective Engagement and Leadership", this was the topic of a talk by Halina Kusack, Women's Engagement employee at the “Institute for Global Engagement”.

The following participated in the Uzbek panel of the conference: representative of the Religious Affairs Committee Rasul Khojaev, head of the Tashkent "Tura Buva" mosque, Imam Shovkat Khamdamov, father Oleg Voroitsov; in the Kazakh panel - Bairjan Bakirov, Marat Bektazinov, Imam of the Muslim Theological Council of Kazakhstan, Nazirkhan Tashkhojaev, Imam of Abdurrahman Mosque in Shymkent, and Father Arman Arenbaev, representative of Almagul Presbyterian Church in Almaty.

The second international conference was summarized by the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, and the president of the "Institute for Global Engagement", Bob Roberts, who highly evaluated the activities of the participants and noted that the Georgian-American International Conference organized by the State Agency for Religious Issues and the US non-governmental organization "Institute for Global Engagement" would become traditional.
