The Georgian Orthodox Church and parish celebrate the most important Christian holiday, Christmas. Festive services are held in all churches of Georgia. Along with the Christmas liturgy, according to the patriarch's blessing, Christmas candles flicker from the windows.
"Today's conflicts and wars are accompanied by a real danger that any one of them will turn into a world catastrophe and destroy all humanity. That's why we all, according to our abilities, have to care for peace." – it is stated in the Christmas Epistle of the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, His Holiness and Blessed Ilia II, which was introduced to the congregation gathered at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, before the start of the solemn service, by the Archdeacon of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Demetre (Davitashvili).
Christmas liturgy was conducted by Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri) of Senaki and Chkhorotsku Diocese, Incumbent of the Patriarchal Throne of the Apostolic Orthodox Church of Georgia.
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the "Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia" party, member of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities were present at the Christmas service.
