The Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates one of the most important holidays, the day of martyrdom on the wheel of St. George of Cappadocia. According to the tradition established by the State Agency for Religious Issues, the representatives of the Georgian government celebrated this day together with their compatriots living in the Kakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
After the festive service in St. George’s Church in Kakhi, the members of the delegation visited St. George’s Church in Kurmukhi. The festive service was performed by Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe and Taoklarjeti, temporary ruler of Khornabuji, Hereti and Nekresi Diocese, Theodore (Chuadze) and priest Petre Khumarashvili.
Employees of the Agency distributed Bibles as gifts to local Georgian Orthodox people.
The delegation included the members of the Parliament of Georgia, Guram Macharashvili and Badri Berianidze, Chairman of Lagodekhi Municipality, Karlo Jamburia, Mayor of Dedoplistskaro Municipality, Nikoloz Janiashvili, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, Head of the Legal Maintenance Office, Davit Davitashvili, senior specialist, Avtandil Kvernadze, lawyer Aleksandre Shekiladze, manager Lasha Mchedlidze and Agency employee Vazha Artmeladze.
