At the Administration of the Government of Georgia, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze and the Apostolic Nuncio Jose Avelino Bettencourt, Ambassador of the Holy See to Georgia.

The chairman of the Agency introduced the religious policy of the State of Georgia, the activities of the Agency and implemented projects to the Ambassador. Zaza Vashakmadze noted that the support of the Vatican was of vital importance for Georgia. The contribution of Georgian Catholics to the construction of the State and Georgian culture is important.

Cooperation between the State of Georgia and the Holy See, as well as the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church was discussed at the meeting. Jose Avelino Bettencourt put forward a proposal to hold joint cultural activities. Zaza Vashakmadze confirmed his willingness to cooperate with the Ambassador and promised support.
