Today, Zaza Vashakmadze, chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Georgia, Mr Esa Albasha Alnoaimi.

At the meeting, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues informed the Ambassador regarding the establishment and activities of the agency, religious policy of Georgia, successful steps were taken by the state towards religious minorities, in particular, financing of confessions and the mechanisms of transferring cultural buildings. Discussions also focused on projects developed by the agency, conferences and training held within the framework of the Governmental Action Plan on Human Rights.

The guest hand over to Zaza Vashakmadze a document - "On Human Unity for a Peaceful Coexistence of the World", signed by Pope Francis and the great imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb. According to him at the President's initiative, 2019 was declared a year of tolerance in the United Arab Emirates. The Ambassador provided the chairman of the agency with information on the activities of the Ministry of Tolerance in the United Arab Emirates.
