Today, at the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, Mr. Imamura Akira, and the Cultural Attaché, Imanishi Takao, visited the State Agency for Religious Issues. The Ambassador has just been appointed and the meeting was introductory in nature. The guests were met by the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze and the Deputy Chairman, Giorgi Ukleba.
The guest was interested in the activities of the Agency and the religious policy of the Government of Georgia in general. The Chairman briefed the Ambassador of Japan on the functions, tasks, implemented projects and activities of the Agency. The Ambassador was interested in the format of the interreligious council. According to Him Japan and Georgia share the fundamental values of democracy and the rule of law.
Zaza Vashakmadze thanked the guests and expressed readiness to cooperate with the counterpart organization.
