Today, on February 16, at the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, held an introductory meeting with the Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Iran in Georgia, Mohammad Kobad Rad.

Zaza Vashakmadze congratulated the guest on his appointment, wished him success in his activities and expressed hope that the future cooperation would be even more successful and would strengthen the friendship between the two countries.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Agency informed the guest about the activities carried out by the State Agency for Religious Issues, bout the religious policy in Georgia and the activities carried out by the state in this direction in recent years. Zaza Vashakmadze spoke about the projects implemented within the framework of the Governmental Human Rights Action Plan, on the current situation in the field of freedom of religion and the current challenges.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues on the agenda between the two countries and prospects for future cooperation. The guest took the initiative to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Agency and Al-Mustafa University in Iran. The guests also expressed a desire to hold a conference and a working group would be set up.

Mohammad Kobad Rad thanked the Agency for a reception and expressed readiness to further strengthen the existing cooperation between Georgia and Iran, and invited the  Agency delegation to pay an official visit to Iran. The meeting was also attended by the representative of Almostafa University in Georgia Hassan Yousefzade Arbat.
