Training in the Academy of MIA

Within the framework of the Human Rights Governmental Plan 2017-2018 the State Agency for Religious Issues launched conducting the trainings on religious tolerance, to increase the qualification in the investigation of the crimes committed on the basis of violence and discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief for the relevant staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

On the 30th of June, in the Academy of MIA the training – “Human Rights and Religious Tolerance” – was organized by the State Agency for Religious Issues and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The workshop was opened by Zaza Vashakmadze the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues and Givi Mikanadze the Rector of the Academy of MIA. They welcomed the participants of the workshop and noted the role and importance of religious education in the day-to-day activities of the law enforcement agencies.

Seminar on the theme – ‘State Religious Policy, Concordat, the establishment of the State Agency for Religious Issues and its functions and activities were conducted by Valerian Liluashvili, the Chief Lawyer of the agency. Sergo Parulava, the chief specialist of the Information-Analytical Office of the agency spoke about the religions and their history spread in Georgia; seminar on freedom of religion by national and international law was delivered by Davit Davitashvili the leading specialist of the Legal Maintenance Office of the agency. There was a question –answer format in the end of the workshop.

At the first stage there were 50 participants in the training from the criminal police, patrol police and border police.
