Today, at the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issuess, Zaza Vashakmadze, received the delegation of the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by the Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations of Azerbaijan, Ramin Mammadov.
At the meeting they discussed the aspects of cooperation between the two agencies, issues of protection of religious rights of the Muslim community in Georgia and the Georgian Orthodox congregation in Azerbaijan and future perspectives.
The chairman of the Agency emphasized the traditionally tolerant environment in Georgia, introduced the guests to the main directions of the religious policy of the State of Georgia and focused on the assistance provided by the State to religious organizations, including the Muslim community.
The Azerbaijani guest thanked Zaza Vashakmadze for his hospitality and expressed his desire to actively cooperate with the Agency. The chairman of the Committee especially noted that Azerbaijanis living in Georgia have all the conditions to preserve their religious and ethnic identity.
The meeting was attended by: the Head of the Legal Maintenance Office Davit Davitashvili, Lawyer Aleksandre Shekiladze, Head of the Strategic Research, Analysis and Regional Service Nino Chavchavadze, Chief Specialist Sergo Parulava, Analyst Zviad Tkabladze, Representative of the Agency in Kvemo Kartli Abai Pashaev, Protocol Manager Natia Gudadze, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev.
Yesterday, the delegation of Azerbaijan visited the Patriarchate of Georgia and Tbilisi Juma Mosque.
