The State Agency for Religious Issues continues to hold introductory meetings and cooperation with the newly appointed ambassadors. Today, October 31, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia, Edite Medne. The chairman of the Agency congratulated the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia on her appointment and wished success in her activities.
Zaza Vashakmadze introduced the guest to the religious situation in Georgia and the decisions made by the state regarding religious organizations. According to him, the Agency traditionally has a close and fruitful cooperation with the Embassy of Latvia, and hopefully, these relations will continue in the future.
At the meeting, the European and Euro-Atlantic perspectives of Georgia and the implementation of the Association Agreement were also discussed. The Ambassador of Latvia believes that her country is an important partner on the path of Georgia's European integration. The Ambassador also expressed her willingness to help the Agency establish relations with its Latvian counterpart.
