The Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, met with President Trump's adviser on religious issues, Pastor Mark Burns.
Zaza Vashakmadze introduced the US President's adviser to the religious composition of Georgia, the State's religious policy, and emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States of America. The Chairman of the Agency also spoke about tolerant and friendly relations between Georgian religious leaders.
Pastor Mark Burns paid special attention to the facts of violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms, including freedom of religion and belief, in the occupied territories of Georgia, and the ethnic and religious discrimination carried out by the occupying country, Russia.
Zaza Vashakmadze invited Mark Burns, pastor of “The Harvest Praise & Worship Center” and founder and executive director of the American television company “The NOW Television Network”, to Georgia. At the end of the meeting, the delegation of the Agency presented Pastor Mark Burns with the books published by the Agency - “Occupied Heritage” and “Religions in Georgia”.
The parties expressed their desire and readiness for future cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Sandro Inashvili, the Counselor to the Acting Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the United States, David Davitashvili, Head of the Legal Maintenance Office of the Agency, and Aleksandre Shekiladze, Chief Specialist of the Agency.
