The chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Georgia, Matus Bushovski.

The Chairman of the Agency told his Excellency about the tolerant religious environment in Georgia and noted that the country's government is doing everything to preserve and deepen the tradition of tolerance. To illustrate this, he cited the financial support that the state provides to religious denominations and the practice of returning religious buildings.

Special attention was paid to the practice of violating the religious rights of the Georgian Orthodox parishioners in the occupied territories of Georgia. Zaza Vashakmadze noted that in such a situation, the civilized world should not limit itself to statements alone.

The Ambassador thanked Zaza Vashakmadze for the comprehensive information and stated that there was a counterpart organization within the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, and invited the Chairman of the Agency to Slovakia to make contacts with them. Matus Bushovski also noted that Slovakia had a Law on Religion, which would be provided to the Agency by the Embassy. At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador was presented with the publications of the Agency.
