Today, in the capital of Germany, International Conference on the topic - "How Inclusive FoRB can Preempt/Prevent Radicalization, Extremism and Violence" was held. The Georgian delegation, consisting of the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze, and the head of the Legal Maintenance Office, Davit Davitashvili, is participating in the International Conference in Berlin.

Today, Zaza Vashakmadze addressed the participants of the conference and spoke about the religious landscape of Georgia. He noted that Christianity was spread in Georgia since the first century, he also touched upon the religious policy of the State, in particular, the partial compensation for the damage caused to religious associations during the Soviet totalitarian regime and the practice of returning religious buildings to religious organizations, the activities of the Interreligious Council, which unites 14 religious organizations, the phenomenon of Georgian Islam, which implies good-neighborly relations between Sunnis and Shiites, the 26-century-old, unique tradition of Jewish people living in Georgia, the complete disregard of the right to movement, religion, education, health care of the Georgian population in the occupied territories of Georgia and on the disputed monuments that turned out to be the property of the Georgian State as a Soviet Legacy.

Zaza Vashakmadze particularly noted the need for international monitoring in the occupied territories, which should accurately describe the situation there. In addition, he spoke about the necessity of disseminating objective and complete information about Georgia in terms of religion in the reports of various international organizations.

The conference, organized by the American organizations - "International Religious Freedom Secretariat" (IRF Secretariat) and "Love Your Neighbor Community" (LYNC) will end tomorrow.
