The process of transferring religious buildings to various religious organizations in the framework of the reforms fulfilled for religious freedom by the Georgian state is being successfully implementing. For this purpose, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze, the chairman of the Jewish Union of Georgia Merab Chanchalashvili, Eduard Palagashvili and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the embassy of Israel to Georgia Shabtai Tsur visited the Vani District.

The guests visited the old synagogue of Vani and the Jewish cemetery. The repair works have been completed in the synagogue and only legal issues need to be clarified after which it will be transferred to the Jewish Union of Georgia. The opening ceremony of the synagogue will be held in September in which the representatives of the government of Georgia and foreign guests will take part.

It should be noted that the Georgian state has already transferred 17 synagogue to the Jewish community and this process continues successfully.
